Summer Soccer Training Packet - Day 21

Day 21 Motivation: "The journey to greatness is not a sprint; it's a marathon, filled with highs and lows, victories and defeats. So stay focused on your goals, stay disciplined in your training, and never lose sight of the incredible potential that lies within you." - Coach Thomas Goodman

Part 1: Video Review

If you are female watch and review the Mount Marty game, and if you are a male you will watch the Doane Game, this is how you will create your scouting report, you may want to read part 2 before you start to get an idea of what you are watching for in the videos and take notes.

General Research: Start by gathering information about the opposing team, including their recent performances, formation preferences, key players, playing style, and tactical tendencies. Watch their previous matches, analyze match reports, and study statistics to gain insights into their strengths and weaknesses.

Focus on Key Players: Identify the opposition's key players who are likely to have the most influence on the game. Pay close attention to their playing style, preferred positions, strengths, and weaknesses. Understanding how to neutralize or exploit these key players can give your team a significant advantage.

Analyze Set Pieces: Study the opposition's set-piece routines, including corner kicks, free kicks, and throw-ins. Pay attention to their positioning, movement patterns, and delivery methods. Developing strategies to defend against or capitalize on set pieces can be crucial in determining the outcome of the game.

Assess Formations and Tactics: Analyze the opposing team's formations and tactical approach to different phases of the game, such as attacking, defending, and transitioning between the two. Look for patterns in their positioning, movement, and decision-making to anticipate their game plan and adjust your tactics accordingly.

Part 3: Make a report for yourself

Imagine you are going to be playing Mount Marty or Doane on Wednesday, write a report that you would want to have to prepare you for the game.

Journal Entry #21: You will post your team and personal scouting report. While doing todays work did you find areas of scouting reports that are more important than others, what are the three most important things you want to see in a scouting report?
